Number 288 is a New-York based footwear design studio that is dedicated to the craft of footwear design, with meticulous attention to detail. Produced in Portugal using the finest European leathers and materials, Number 288 is dedicated to developing contemporary and inspired products while paying respect to traditional methods of footwear construction with an infusion of original ideas in craftsmanship.
 
Named after the building number of the design studio’s home base and where co-founders, Jung Suh and Benyam Assefa, developed the idea for the line, Number 288 draws inspiration from it’s downtown New York origins as well as the co-founder’s diverse international backgrounds. Hailing originally from Seoul, South Korea and Ethiopia respectively, the duo’s international influences are evident throughout the well thought-out collection. Just like the opposing backgrounds of the founder’s, Number 288’s collections continuously explore contrasting elements such as texture, colour and design details that fuse the classic with the avant-garde. 

With New York city as the backdrop for the Number 288 footwear line, the product language in each collection showcases the unique construction process that builds on the studio’s training and education. This template serves to produce a contemporary collection that seamlessly integrates the classical with the rugged.
