Wan Hung
Designer Wan Hung Cheung founded his eponymous contemporary menswear label, WAN HUNG in 2014 after graduating from Central St Martins with a BA in Fashion Print. The brand offers a mix of creative textile narration and ornate embroidery applied to clean cut tailoring, inspired by the designer’s understanding of conflict versus the Zen school of thought.
Originally from Hainan Island in China, Wan moved to the UK in 2009 to study and pursue his career in the fashion industry. Before launching his own label, the designer worked for a number of prolific designers including Tom Ford, John Rocha, Simone Rocha and Bernhard Willhelm.
“I try to demonstrate the idea of breaking free from rules in life with my collection,” says the designer. WAN HUNG explores the juxtaposition of modernity, innovation and traditional artisanal craft while Sutra, composed by Szymon Brzoska is pivotal to the brand as it shows how Zen can help people break free from the world in flux. The collections often include crystal elements as a signature and provide wearers with a delicate and refined armour.
WAN HUNG has showcased with London Collections: Men since 2015 and was selected as a part of the Lane Crawford x Swarovski “Visions from a New Generation” exhibition in Shanghai in October, 2015. The brand is now stocked in China, America and the Middle East.
