Hentsch Man
DESIGNER NAME: Alexia Hentsch
BACKGROUND: Alexia is half Swiss, half Brazilian. She studied graphic design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the US, and her first and only other job was working for Tyler Brûlé at Wallpaper Magazine and then his branding agency, Winkreative.
SIGNATURES: “I'd say bright colour.”
TRADEMARK PIECE: “Our printed shirts have definitely become our trademark lately!”
THE COLLECTION: “A trip to Baja, California in Mexico inspired the collection. It's all about blistering heat, desert, Hotel California kind of thing. Imagine an aging rock star, all suited up and sweating in some outback desert. A bit of a rebel, a drifter, someone who used to have a lot of style, who has gotten a little dirty.”
IMPACT OF LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN: “It's definitively put our brand more in the public eye. The press and attention we received from last season was great, and has made us think more about this next collection in terms of the presentation and not just a seasonal collection.”
FIRST PIECE OF MENSWEAR DESIGNED: “The perfect white shirt.”
